Warehouse At Medford Razed by Thirsty Flame
Medford, Wis. – The beer
warehouse of the Val Blatz Brewing Co., here, was destroyed by fire late
Tuesday.
The blaze in the old two-story building was started by a
defective stove pipe and chimney. The building contained about $3,000 worth of
beverages.
The office building and a smaller warehouse, filled with
empty cases were saved.
The beer house, built 45 years ago, was
constructed of six thicknesses of lumber, with the spaces in between stuffed
with sawdust, preventing the fire department from making much headway against
the blaze.
