Purgett, Earl Newton (1882 – 1964)

FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR EARL NEWTON PURGETT

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home in Owen for Earl Newton Purgett, 81, Owen, who died Wednesday at the Leahy Nursing Home in Abbotsford.  The Rev. Arnold Wood at Owen, officiated, and burial was made in the Riverside cemetery.

Earl Newton Purgett was born September 4, 1882, in Iroquois County, Ill.  His marriage to Ruth Bishop took place in 1908, in Illinois.  He farmed in Illinois until his retirement, when he came to this area to make his home with his son, John Purgett, route 1, Curtiss.

Survivors include two sons, John Purgett, route 1, Curtiss; and Dod Purgett, Rhinelander; three daughters, Mrs. D. (Grace) Leopolis, and Dolores Purgett, New York; and Sr. Marp Detreta, La Grange, Ill., a brother, George Purgett, Woodland, Ill.; and five grandchildren.
