Mrs. Carrie Damon Passes Away
Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church Tuesday afternoon at 2
o’clock for Mrs. Andrew Damon, 86, a resident of Spencer for the past 73 years.
Mrs. Damon passed away Saturday at 4:40 A. M. at her home here. She had been in
poor health for several years.
The body was at the Swarthout Funeral
home until Tuesday noon when it was then to the church were funeral services
were conducted by Rev. Raymond Fleming. Burial took place in the West Spencer
cemetery.
At the close of the church services the Royal Neighbor Lodge
held their services at the church.
Pallbearers were Spence Graves, Guy
Ingham, Laurence Driscoll, Harry Prehn, Foster McIlhattan and George Hayward.
Flowers were in charge of Mrs. Guy Ingham, Eva McIlhattan, Alice Prehn, Mae
Driscoll, Calla Holterman, Ora Schaefer and Violet Parrette.

Heath was born at Hamilton, South Park, Colorado on Oct. 12, 1862, and came to
Spencer when she was 13. She was married to Andrew Damon on June 4, 1881. Mr.
Damon died Dec. 13, 1938. He’d been a lumberman and had held several village
offices.
Mrs. Damon was a member of the Spencer Methodist Church, a
charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a charter member of the
Spencer Royal Neighbor Lodge. She held the office of Oracle, Vice Oracle and
Chancellor of the local Royal Neighbors, the latter office she held for the past
31 years.
Surviving Mrs. Damon are four daughters, Miss Ina Damon at
home, Mrs. Frank (Calla) Schofield of Everett, Wash.; Miss Ethel Damon of
Denver, Colo., and Mrs. John (Lucille) Fiebke, Athens; four sons, Glen of
Spencer, Grant of Chemult, Ore., Seth and Walter, Milwaukee; a sister, Mrs.
Edward Gross, Kenmore, N. D.; a brother, Grant Heath, Skanee, Mich.; and seven
grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
