Ambelang, William F. C. (11 May 1876 - 10 March
1969)
William F. C. Ambelang, 92, of Rt. 2 Neillsville, died Monday at
his home in the Town of Hewett. Funeral services will be held this (Thursday)
afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Georgas Funeral Home. The Rev. Jack Grether will
officiate. Burial will be made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.
Mr.
Ambelang was born May 11, 1876, in Milwaukee. The family moved to Iowa, where he
attended school. He later moved to Nebraska, where he worked in railroad shops.
He was married on January 26, 1910, in Havelock, Nebr., to the former Ida M.
Walter. In 1917, Mr. and Mrs. Ambelang came to Clark County locating on a farm
in the Town of Hewett. He served as town chairman for 23 years, was assessor for
15 years and clerk of the Sunny Nook School for 12 years. He served as a member
of the Clark County Board of Supervisors for 23 years. He was a member of the
United Church of Christ.
Mr. Ambelang is survived by his wife; a son,
Harry (Ruby) Ambelang, on the home farm; two sisters, Mrs. Martha Roberts and
Mrs. Bertha Sellers, both of Chariton, Ia.; and by four grandchildren.
