SOMMERS HOME RUINED BY FIRE
EARLY
MORNING PLAZE BLAMED TO WIRING
Faulty
wiring has been credited with the origin of an early morning fire that gutted
the second story of the rural farm home of Vernon Sommers in the Town of Green
Grove. The blaze was noticed at 2:15
Sunday morning by a passing motorist.
Sommers
told Owen firemen that when he was aroused, he didn’t smell smoke, but saw a
glow reflected in a window and immediately knew what was up.
The fire
started near the power line entrance at the west side of the two story
eight-room home. The blaze was
checked by the Owen Fire Department although the entire upstairs of the home is
ruined. A new two stall garage and
breezeway was saved from damage by firemen.
Firemen
and neighbors that responded to the alert saved practically all of the furniture
and personal effects. Nevertheless
damages were estimated at between six and seven thousand dollars.
