SERVICES HELD MONDAY FOR MRS. ROBERT VATER

Funeral services for Mrs. Robert Vater, 93, Withee were held Monday at the Congregational Church in Owen. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.

Mrs. Vater died Friday in a Beaver Dam hospital where she had been taken for surgery. She had been visiting a daughter in Madison recently.

The former Henrietta Scheonsiegel, she was born September 8, 1870, at Plymouth and was married there in November of 1893. She and her husband moved here in 1900 where they operated a farm.

Mr. and Mrs. Vater were the second longest married couple in Clark County before his death January 29. They were looking forward to celebrating their 71st anniversary this fall. Their marriage record was topped by Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Winters of Neillsville, who noted their 71st anniversary June 28. Mrs. Winters died last week.

Mrs. Vater is survived by three sons, Carl and Arnold, Withee, and Neil, Owen; three daughters, Mrs. Niles Moody, Madison, Mrs. Ray Jones, Randolph, and Mrs. Norveil Woodburn, Elmhurst, Ill., eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She was a member of the Methodist Church, Women’s Society of Christian Service, and the Longwood Homemakers Club here.
