FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR NELS TWAIT SATURDAY

Saturday afternoon funeral services for Nels C. Twait, 60 were conducted from the Longwood Emmanuel Lutheran Church, of which he was a member, with the Rev. Arvid Myhrwold officiating. Burial was made in the church cemetery at Longwood. Death of the deceased was a surprise and shock to the members of his family, relatives and friends as he succumbed to a short stay at the Marshfield Hospital Wednesday, July 22.

Nels C. Twait was born in Freedom, Illinois, February 24, 1904. He came to Wisconsin with his parents and resided with them and farmed until the early 1930’s when he worked in Minneapolis as a mechanic. He then returned to his parent’s farm south of Owen in the 1940’s where he farmed with his brother until his sudden death.

He is survived by three brothers, Silas of Good hope, Ill., Elmer of Chicago, Olaf at home. Three sisters, Martha Sorensen of Owen, Mrs. Vanio (Evelyn) Talso of Greenwood, and Elizabeth at home. His parents, three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death. He was not married.

Pallbearers were Art Himes, Donald Nordlof, Charles and John Kovatch, James Peterson and William Kangas. Those who carried floral offerings were Mesdames James Peterson, Donald Nordlof, Art Himes and Charles Kovatch.

Mrs. Arvid Myhrwold sang two selections, “In the Garden” and “Heaven Is My Home.” Her daughter, Debra accompanied her.

Relatives attending from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Silas Twait, Sarah and Vernon, Good Hope, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Twait of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Twait, Wisconsin Rapids, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Bingham, West Allis, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Lenser, Waukesha, Mrs. William Paul Morois and son, Fort Atkinson, Mrs. Patricia Richers, Chicago, Edythe Vormon, Wisconsin Rapids, Inga Firnstahl, Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Schelklman, Waukegan, Ill., Mrs. Raymond Kolbylarczyk, Thorp, Mrs. Binging, Unity.
