Bertha Sorenson (23 Jul 1879 - 14 Feb 1952)

The Rev. G.T. Vieth, pastor, officiated at funeral rites for Mrs. Bertha Sorenson, 81, in Salem Evangelical United Brethren church here (Dorchester, Clark Co., WI) Sunday at 2:30 PM. Mrs. Warren Otto sang the Lord’s Prayer, and a hymn at the service, with H.A. Juneau accompanist. He also played the processional and recessional. Burial was in Dorchester Memorial cemetery in the family plot beside the grave of her husband, Andrew, who died Nov 3, 1947. Pallbearers were William Wigstadt, Neenah; Louis Wigstadt, Carl Braun, Otto Genrich, Grant Pope, and W. P. Lehnertz.
Mrs. Sorenson died at 8 PM Thursday, Feb 14, in the Medford hospital, where she had been a patient during her final illness, following several years of ill health.

The deceased was born Bertha Larsen in Bergen, Norway, on July 23, 1870, and came to Dorchester a widow, from Norway in 1895 with her son, Iver Johnson. She had resided in this community since, with the exception of about three years, 1910-1913, spent in Kansas. She and Andrew Sorenson were married here Feb 21, 1897.

Survivors include four sons: Iver Johnson, Medford; Edgar Sorenson, Burlington; Maurice and Lloyd Sorenson, Dorchester; one step-daughter, Mrs. Esther Robison of Auburn, Calif; and five grandchildren, Norman Johnson, New York; Lloyd Johnson, Milwaukee; Mrs. Mary Jane Deml, Medford; Dale Sorenson, Kohler, and James Sorenson, Dorchester.

Besides her husband, two step-daughters, Mamie Sorenson and Mrs. Anna Ballard, preceded her in death.
