George A. Sprague (22 Dec 1865
– 21 Mar 1949)
George A Sprague, 83, who conducted a grocery store here
(Dorchester, Clark Co., WI) for over 15 years, died at his home in Menomonee
March 21. Funeral services were held from a funeral home there Tuesday
afternoon, pastor of Grace Episcopal church officiating at the rites. Burial was
in Menomonee cemetery.
Mr. Sprague was born Dec. 22, 1865, at Prairie
Farm. He lived there and at Downing for a number of years after his marriage to
Margaret Kyle at Wheeler, Dec 1, 1886. In 1903 he moved here where he owned and
operated a grocery store on the corner where the Neal Smith business now is
located. The store building burned during the 1920s and since has been rebuilt.
In 1919 he sold his business here and moved to Menomonee, where he operated a
grocery for several years before his retirement.
Survivors include his
widow; a son, Kyle Sprague, Menomonee, and a daughter, Mrs. D W Tiffany,
Tillamook, Ore. Three grandsons, Kyle Sprague, Jr., Wausau; Dan Tiffany,
Tillamook, Ore, and George Tiffany, Helena, Mont., and one great-grandson, Dan
Tiffany, Jr., also survive.
