The marriage of Miss Maggie Masters and Mr. Bennie Johnson, both of
Greenwood, was solemnized at the house of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.A.
Masters, at nine o’clock Tuesday evening, March 6, 1906, Rev. C.O. Presnall
officiating.
To the strains of Mendelssohn’s wedding march played by the
bride’s sister, Miss Bertha, the bridal couple, attended by Ralph Meek and Ella
Wollenberg, passed down the stairs and took their places beneath a beautiful
floral arch, back of which were banked potted plants while wedding bells as
though in the act of ringing were overhanging. The ceremony was simple but most
impressive and beautifully carried out.
The bride was beautifully attired
in a gown of white pearline silk and carried carnations, as did also the
bridesmaid.
Following the ceremony and congratulations, the bridal party
and guests which included only the immediate families of the bride and groom and
a few intimate friends, repaired to the dining room where dainty refreshments
were served, the bridal party sitting under a large floral bell.
Though
the bride has been a Greenwood resident only for the past three or four years
she has made a host of friends. The groom is a Greenwood boy, having lived here
all his life except part of the first year of his life. He has been active in
band affairs and is popular among the young folks of that city. He is the only
son of Mr. and Mrs. H Johnson of Greenwood. This last year he entered the employ
of the Wisconsin Railway Company as brakeman and has been assigned a run on the
Nekoosa branch.
Mr. and Mrs. Johnson will be at home in Marshfield after
April first and take with them the well wishes of their many Fairchild friends.
