Fredericka Georgas (23 Dec 1849 - 22 Jan 1936)
Funeral rites were held at St. Peter's Lutheran church here (Dorchester,
Clark Co., WI) at 2 p.m. today for Mrs. Fredericka Georgas, 87, who died at her
home here at 6 p.m. Friday of chronic neuritis and pneumonia. Rites were
conducted at the home at 1:30, the Rev. J. Brandt officiating, and burial took
place in the Memorial Cemetery.
Fredericka Schultz was born in Germany on
Dec. 23, 1849, and came to this country with her parents when but a year old.
They settled in Howard's Grove, near Sheboygan, where she lived until after her
marriage to Frederick Georgas on Nov. 10, 1872.
In 1879 they came to
Dorchester and settled on a farm two and one half miles west of the village,
moving to town in 1913. Mrs. Georgas was a charter member of St. Peter's
Lutheran Church.
She is survived by two children, William and Miss
Bertha, both of Dorchester, and also by two nephews, Martin Mertz, Detroit, and
Albert Mertz, Chicago, who were brought up in her home. There are three
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers at the funeral
were Oscar Laack, William Yanke, Otto Fitzlaff, Henry Beisner, Ray Dake, and
Fred Woempner.
