Frank Habeck (19 Apr
1853 – 6 Apr 1933)
Funeral services for Frank Habeck were held Monday at
1 p. m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran church (Dorchester, Clark Co., WI). Burial was
made in Memorial cemetery. The Rev. J. Brandt officiated.
Pallbearers
were Henry Gipp, Max Vircks, John Johnson, Carl Plockelman, Charles Scheibe, and
John Lang. Flower girls were Audrey Meyer, Verna Guth, Helen Habeck, and Arletta
Lindau.
Mr. Habeck was born April 19, 1853, in Pummer, Germany, and was
married there in 1881 to Amelia Timm. They came at once to America and settled
about 5 ½ miles northwest of Dorchester when the country was practically all
heavy woods, and remained on this farm for 36 years. In 1817 he came to the
village of Dorchester and lived here until three weeks before his death when he
went to live with his son on the home farm. Mrs. Habeck died in 1917.
He
is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Anna Englebert, Stevens Point, and Mrs.
Bertha England, Towanda, Kans., two sons, William, Manitowoc and Carl,
Dorchester, and 12 grandchildren.
He was a member of St. Peter’s church. At
the funeral the choir sang “There is an Hour of Peaceful Rest”.
Out of
town relatives who attended were Mr. and Mrs. William Habeck, Manitowoc, Mr. and
Mrs. Paul Engelbert, William, Robert, Lorane, Rose, Janette, and Mildred
Engelbert, and Miss Julia Englebert, all of Stevens Point.
