Shultz, LeRoy (19?? – 25 FEB 1945)

Cpl. LeRoy Shultz Funeral is Saturday

Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Elliott received word Wednesday that the remains of their nephew, Cpl. LeRoy L. Shultz, had arrived and that burial would take place at Lyons, Ill. Saturday afternoon, February 5th at 2 o’clock.

Cpl. Shultz, “Happy”, as he was known by his friends, and his friends were everyone who knew him, was killed in action on Iwo Jima on February 25, 1945 while serving with the Marine Corps.

Happy was well known in Spencer having made his home here with his aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Elliott for ten years prior to his entering the Marine Corps September 17, 1945 and word of his death came as a great shock to the entire community.

We join the many, many friends of Happy in extending our sincere sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. Elliott, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Shultz and family of Lyons, Ill. At this time.
