Bombard, Sarah Freeman (19 JUL 1863 - 11 MAY 1949)
Sarah Freeman
Bombard, daughter of Elmer and Nancy (Serris) Freeman, was born in Brookshire,
N. Y., July 19, 1863.
At the age of eight years she moved with her
mother, her father having passed away, to Alden, Ill.
She was married to
Buford Raymond Bombard at Alden, August 14th, 1884. They came to Wisconsin in
1917. Four children blessed this union: Raymond Clifford, San Diego, Calif.;
Mr[s]. Wm. (Ruby) Nelson, Long beach, Calif.; Milton Wm. Of the Town of Sherman
and Mrs. Arthur (Beulah) Phillips of Spencer, who survive. Mr. Bombard passed
away in 1944. Nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; 1 sister, Mrs.
Flora Wolbin of Long Beach and eleven nieces and nephews also survive. Two
brothers preceded her in death, Elmer Freeman, Town of Sherman in 1939 and
Sylvanus Freeman of South Dakota who died some 12 years ago.
The funeral
will be held Saturday from the Spencer Methodist Church at 2:00 P. M. the Rev.
R. J. Fleming will officiate. The body will lie in state at the Swarthout
Funeral Home until Saturday at 11 A. M. when it will be taken to the church to
lie in state until the time of services.
Mrs. Bombard passed quietly away
at 6:00 A. M. Wednesday having suffered a severe stroke March 26th.
She
returned from a visit of a year wither daughter and son in Long Beach and San
Diego, Calif., last August and has since been with her daughter, Mrs. Arthur
Phillips.
All that loving care could do was done by her children. Her
eyesight was gone but to the last she was the same loving patient mother and
friend with a mile and answer to the query as to “How are you”? with a “Just
Fine.”
She had endeared herself into the hearts of her friends as well as
her family, who will all miss her.
