Kowolk, Glen (1928? - 4 JUL 1949)

Unity Man Killed In Truck Accident

Glen Kowolk, Town of Brighton, a driver for Norman Luchterhand on a whey truck, died instantly at about 6:30 Monday Morning, July 4, from chest injuries and injuries to the right side of his face and head, when the whey truck and trailer he was driving ran off the road just north of the 26th Road corner on Highway 13 about 3 miles South of Spencer.

The big truck-trailer ran into the ditch traveling some distance in the ditch before striking a concrete culvert and proceeding on across the culvert coming to a stop on the other side of the culvert still in the ditch. The impact was so great that it threw the big trailer, which was empty at the time, clear off the road and it hit a Bell Telephone Co. post breaking it off about 15 feet above the ground.

Mr. Kowalk was thrown partially out of the cab with the left front fender pinning him down lieing [sic] across his chest.
