Komberec, Mrs.
Arthur (30 AUG 1896 - 14 JUL 1949)
Spencer Lady Killed In Accident
Funeral services were held at Milladore Saturday Morning for Mrs. Arthur J.
Komberec, 52 Spencer route 1, who passed away at 10:30 o’clock Thursday morning
at St. Joseph’s hospital, Marshfield as the result of a skull fracture and a
badly fractured right arm and right leg. The injuries were received an hour
earlier when she was struck by a car about 3 ½ miles north of Spencer on Highway
13.
The accident occurred when Mrs. Komberec who had been at the mailbox
at the Henry Wydevan farm, where she and her husband had been employed recently,
stepped out from behind a passing gasoline truck directly into the path of a car
driven by Mrs. Louis Nacker of Abbotsford.
Mrs. Nacker said she sounded
the horn and swung her car to the left and to the right and back again in an
effort to avoid the accident but the victim was apparently confused and kept
going back and forth in the road also. Marathon County Coroner, after
questioning witnesses, absolved Mrs. Nacker of blame and said no inquest would
be held.
Mrs. Kromberec was born in Lawndale, Minn., Aug. 30, 1896 and
lived in Necedah and Milladore prior to coming to the Wydevan farm last
February.
Surviving besides her husband are two daughters and several
brothers and sisters.
