Martens-Mondloch
Now at home to friends on a farm near Greenwood are
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Martens whose marriage was solemnized at 9 a.m. Sept. 10 at
Christ the King Catholic Church, Spencer by the Rev. Bernard Henry. Twin
brothers of the groom were servers at the Solemn High Mass.
The bride,
the former Miss Doris Mondloch, of Marshfield, is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Math Mondloch, Spencer and the groom is the son of Mrs. Sophie Martens,
Greenwood.
Attending the bride as maid of honor was Miss Della Martens,
sister of the groom. His brother, William, was best man. Another sister, Miss
Mable Martens, and a sister of the bride, Mrs. Hubert Schmitz, were the
bridesmaids. All are of Greenwood, Ronald Mondoloch, Spencer, the bride’s
brother and Hubert Schmitz were groomsmen.
White slipper satin was used
to fashion the bride’s gown. A net yoke created an off-the-shoulder effect, and
the hoop skirt ended in a long train. Her full length veil, with appliques of
satin hearts, was held in place by a beaded headdress, and she carried white
gladioli and red roses forming a cross.
Dresses of yellow, green and
orchid taffeta, with net yokes and hoop skirts, were worn by the maid of honor
and the bridesmaids, and each carried a bouquet of roses and gladioli.
Breakfast was served in the church dining hall immediately following the
ceremony, and dinner at 4 o’clock in the same place. A reception at the brides
home after the breakfast and a dance at night in Walter’s Pavilion, Colby were
other features of the wedding celebration. Later the couple left on a trip to
northern Wisconsin.
Mr. Martens is engaged in farming and his bride was
formerly employed at the LeVielle Drug store in Marshfield.
The Record
joins their many local friends in extending congratulations and best wishes for
a long and happy wedded life.
