SILVER WEDDING
The Rev. and Mrs. Raymond J. Fleming observed
their silver wedding anniversary Monday, September 12th, with open house at the
Methodist parsonage at Marshfield.
The marriage of Miss Fe[unreadable]
Cook, daughter of the George S. Cook’s of Unity, to Raymond Fleming of Glenwood
City, then a student at Asbury College, Wilmore, Ky., took place on the evening
of Sept. 12, 1924, in the Unity Methodist Church, with the Rev. Charles Brown of
Spencer Methodist Church reading the nuptial service.
Of the 175 guests
that called at the Flemings home on the silver anniversary, 12 had attended the
wedding 25 years ago as attendants.
Guests in attendance included members
of the congregations of the Marshfield, Spencer and Richfield Methodist Churches
where Rev. Fleming is now the pastor.
The pastor and his family received
many fine gifts and a Purse of money from the many guests. Mrs. George Headley
of Minneapolis, the Fleming’s daughter, and Mrs. Carrie Allen, Rev. Fleming’s
aunt, poured at the informal reception.
The Fleming family which also
includes a son, Myron, came to Marshfield July 4, 1946 rom Viroqua where the
Rev. Fleming had been pastor since 1939. Earlier he had served charges at Unity,
(as student pastor) Loyal, Superior and in the Ease [East?].
