Schaefer, Mary R. (15 June 1889 - 31 May 1969)

Mrs. Mary R. Schaefer, 79, of Memorial Home in Neillsville, died here early Saturday. A Rosary service was held at the Georgas Funeral Home Monday night and funeral services were held from St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 10 o’clock, with the Rev. George M. Nelson officiating. Burial was made in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Mrs. Schaefer was born June 15, 1889, in Chicago, to Kasper and Marie (Zigmund) Vratney. She received her education there, and later came to Clark County, where she was married to Antone Schaefer on September 6, 1911. They farmed in the Town of York for many years before retiring and moving into the city. She had been a resident of Memorial Home for the last six years. He died in 1943.

Survivors include: two sons, Raymond Schaefer of Milwaukee and Everest Schaefer of Oregon, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Anna Marek of Chicago, Ill.; a brother, Joseph Vratney of Hallandale, Fla.; and 10 grandchildren.

Mrs. Schaefer was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and an honorary member of the Parish Council of Catholic Women.

Pallbearers were: Raymond Schaefer, Jr., Walter Schaefer, Anthony Schaefer, Anthony Langreck, Francis Langreck and Eugene Langreck.

Those from out of town attending included: Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Schaefer of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Everest Schaefer of Oregon, Ill.; Charles Viskocil, Mrs. Anna Marek, Mrs. Marie Gallagher and Mrs. Ann Kraiss, all of Chicago, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stevens and Mr. and Mrs. George Groenhagen of Oregon, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Dubis, Mrs. Margie Beck and Mrs. Martha Krueger of Milwaukee; Mrs. John Flynn of St. Paul, Minn., and Miss Kathy Keating of Albert Lea, Minn.
