Poulda, Susan (19 NOV 1965 - 17 APR 2013)

Susan Poulda, 47, Gilman, died on Wednesday, April 17 at the House of the Dove in Marshfield, after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.

Susan was born on November 19, 1965 in Stanley, the daughter of Edgar and Bernice (Olejnichak) Poulda. She grew up in Gilman and graduated from Gilman High School in 1984.

She then attended Mount Senario College in Ladysmith, graduating in 1988 with a bachelor's degree in elementary education with an early childhood degree and a minor in mathematics (N/K-8th grade). Susan began teaching in 1989 with the Gilman School District. In 1997 she graduated from Viterbo University in La Crosse with a master's degree in education.

Susan ended her teaching career in 2012 due to her health. She was very dedicated to teaching and to her students. Susan also enjoyed gardening, baking cookies, playing cards, needlework and spending time with family and friends.

She is survived by her mother, Bernice Krizan of Gilman; a brother, Edgar (Tari) Poulda Jr. of Cadott, and their children, Elizabeth, Emily, Julianna and Edgar III; a brother, Michael (Kim Kasperek) Poulda of Medford; her paternal grandmother, Thelma Poulda of Mauston; step-brothers, David, Dean (Mary), Wayne and Jeff (Cari) Krizan; two step-sisters, Peggy (Jerry) Imbach and Betty (Bruce) Webster; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Edgar Poulda; maternal grandparents, Michael and Cecilia Olejnichak; paternal grandfather, Donald Poulda; and aunt, Julianna Olejnichak.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 20 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, with Father Madanu Sleeva officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.

Gilman Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
