Miss Amanda
Machel, 77, of Neillsville, died here Monday afternoon. Funeral services were to
be held Wednesday at 8 p.m. from the Georgas Funeral Home with the Rev. D. E.
Sprague of the Assembly of God Church officiating. Burial was to be made in Elm
Lawn Memorial Cemetery at Elmhurst, Ill.
Miss Machel was born in Bochnia,
Hungary, May 17, 1892, the daughter of John and Louise (Wegert) Machel. The
family came to the United States when she was nine days old. Her parents located
in Chicago and four years later came to Clark County and farmed in the Town of
Grant for 26 years.
Miss Machel attended Stevens Point Teachers’ College
and a business college in Springfield, Ill. She was employed at Wards, Western
Electric, Western Union and the Admiral Radio Corporation in Chicago, Ill. She
returned to Neillsville in 1966.
