Funeral
services for Crist R. Bremer, Rib Lake, formerly of Abbotsford, were held
Monday, June 15 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Rib Lake. The Rev. Henry Giechen
officiated. Bremer died June 10, 1965 at the Golden Age Nursing Home in Rib
Lake. He was 88 years old. Burial was made in the Abbotsford Cemetery.
Crist R. Bremer was born on Feb. 11, 1876 in Germany. He came to the U.S. with
his family in 1884 and they lived for a year at Germantown before settling in
the town of Mayville (Clark Co., Wis.) in 1885. On June 18, 1905 he married the
former Marie Younker at Dorchester, where the couple farmed until hsi retirement
in 1950. In addition to farming, Mr. Bremer worked for 12 years at the Soo Line
Road House at Abbotsford, and he later operated a road grader for the town of
Mayville for 15 years. Upon retiring, the Bremers moved to Rib Lake. He was a
member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church at Rib Lake.
Bremer is
survived by his wife, Marie; one brother, Richard Bremer, Rib Lake, and one
sister, Anna Skerben, Wis. Rapids.
