Christie, Elizabeth ‘Libby’ (25 January 1888 - 15 June 1969)

Mrs. Freeman (Libby) Christie, 81, of Neillsville, died here Sunday following surgery. Funeral services were held from the Georgas Funeral Home Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. William Dushek of the United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Christie was born January 25, 1888, in the Town of Eaton to George and Sarah Kennedy McConnell. She was educated in the Greenwood area, and it was there she married Freeman Christie on December 11, 1907. They farmed in that vicinity until moving to Neillsville in 1940. She worked at Weidenhoff plant here for several years.

Mrs. Christie is survived by her husband; two daughters, Mrs. May Schullo of Minneapolis, Minn., and Mrs. Arlene Lobner of Wisconsin Rapids; four sons, Eugene of Neillsville, Ernest of La Crosse, Arthur of Greenwood and John of Anoka, Minn.; 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Christie was a member of Royal Neighbors, Camp No. 78, Rebekah Lodge, No. 64, and the Women’s Relief Corps.

Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Christie, 81, who died June 15, were held from the Georgas Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, with the Rev. William Dushek officiating. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were her grandsons: James, Richard, Lyle and Patrick Christie, Jack Schullo and Michael Lobner. Ellis Wall sang, “The Old Rugged Cross” and “In the Garden” accompanied by Mrs. Jess W. Scott.

M. Flikke, Miss Mary Lipski and Mrs. K. A. Swanson of Minneapolis, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Christie of Ogden, Ut.; Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Hubert of Milwaukee; Roy McConnell and Miss Doris McConnell of Beloit; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Christie, Mary Denk, and Mrs. Cecil Bremer of Loyal; Mrs. Ruth Brown of Mundelein, Ill.; Keith Howard of Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Lucille Lunka of Willard; Mr. and Mrs. Clayton McConnell of Ellsworth; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Thoma of Wausau; Mrs. Caroline Seidel and Mr. and Mrs. Roy McKimm of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Dux of Lancaster, Calif.; Mrs. Ray Hetzel, Granton; Mr. and Mrs. Art Christie and many others from the Greenwood area.
