Raymond W. Barth, 86, of Granton, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at the Neillsville Care & Rehabilitation Center in Neillsville.

Raymond was born June 17, 1926, at Chili to John and Hilda (Quicker) Barth. He helped work on the farm and had a milk route for Neillsville Milk products. He was united in marriage to Shirley Nowack on Aug. 28, 1948. The couple farmed until 1952 when Raymond was drafted into service with the Navy for four years. Upon his discharge, he went back to farming in 1957 in the town of York until 1963. The couple then moved to the town of Lynn where they purchased a farm.

Raymond was struck by lightning in April 1969 while gathering maple sap. Raymond and Shirley built a new home in the village of Granton in 1976. He later worked for Rollohome and Marshfield Homes. He also enjoyed busing the Amish to town.

He was a member of the Granton Rotary, served on the town of Lynn Board, Granton Village Board, and was a volunteer fireman. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, spending time with his grandchildren and family get-togethers.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church at Granton, and was a 43-year member of the Neillsville American Legion.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirley; two sons, Gary (friend Charlene) of Long Beach, Calif., and Thomas (Anita) of Marshfield; four grandchildren, Amanda, Trevor, Alissa and Makayla Barth; a sister, Norma Vandenbergen; a brother, James (Marge) Barth; a sister-in-law, Laura Riedel; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Robert Barth; a brother-in-law, Ralph Riedel; and a brother-in-law, Harold Vandenbergen.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11 at Zion Lutheran Church in Granton with the Rev. Daniel Schoessow officiating. Music will be provided by Caroline Helm, organist. Military honors will be provided by the Neillsville American Legion.

Following the service, a celebration of Life will be held at the American Legion Hall in Neillsville. Interment will be at a later date.
