He attended Pleasant Hill grade school and graduated from Abbotsford High School later attending the University of Wisconsin-River Falls for four years. He delivered milk door to door for Hawkeye Dairy. His hard work led Wally to later become a partner/owner of Hawkeye Dairy. He later sold his interest in the dairy. He managed the fertilizer plant in Unity for 32 years where he was humbled and honored to serve his farmers, clients, feed and seed reps and his co-workers.

Hobbies included fishing trips to Canada, rifle deer hunting, bowling and traveling. Wally loved playing "Old Maid" with his grandkids, wrestling with those grandkids and was an avid Badger, Brewer and Packer fan.

Wally was a servant of the Lord by participating on various boards, committees and assisting the various pastors at St. Peter Lutheran Church. Memberships included St. Peter Lutheran Church in Dorchester, St. Peter Men's Group and Abbotsford Sportsman's Club.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Gloria of Dorchester, his children: Adam (Amber Rau) Nixdorf of Abbotsford; Andrea (Benjamin) Graff of Colby; his grandchildren: Ty Rau, Hannah Nixdorf, Blake Nixdorf, Jebediah Nixdorf, Jeremiah Collopy and Lydiah Collopy; his mother Lorna Nixdorf of Plover; two brothers: Paul Nixdorf of Minneapolis, MN and Allan (Mary) Nixdorf of Abbotsford and one sister Vicky (Don) Rusch of Polonia.
