Koffarnus, Clara (18 FEB 1884 - 25 JUN 1964)

Funeral services for Mrs. Clara Koffarnus, 80, Abbotsford, who died June 25, 1964, were held Saturday afternoon.

The body lay in state at the Polnaszek Funeral Home, Abbotsford, until noon, when it was taken to Christ Lutheran Church, where services were held at 2 o'clock with the Rev. F.H. Sprengler officiating. Quinton Quade was the orgnaist and Mrs. Charles Plautz and Dorothy Kieser sang "Come Ye Disconsolate" and "I Know of a Sleep in Jesus' Name."

Six grandsons served as pallbearers for their grandmother. They were LaVerne Karsten, Carlin Koffarnus, Douglas, Koffarnus, Glen Koffarnus, , Richard Koffarnus and Oscar Koffarnus Jr. Interment was made in the Abbotsford Cemetery.

The former Clara Miller was born Feb. 18, 1884 in the town of Green Grove (Clark Co., Wis.) and was educated in the area schools. She and William Koffarnus were united in marriage at Curtiss Nov. 2, 1904 and celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

Mrs. Koffarnus lived in the Abbotsford vicinity all of her life and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church. Both Mr. and Mrs. Koffarnus were residents of the Leahy Nursing Home at Abbotsford and after the death of Mr. Koffarnus in October 1963, she continued to live there. About a week ago she was admitted to St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, where her death occurred early Thursday morning.

All of the eight sons and two daughters were here for the funeral. They are: Oscar, Dorchester; Arthur, Michigan; George, Colby; Clarence and Herman, Milwaukee; William Jr., Owen; Hubert, Curtiss; Larry, Wausau; Mrs. Mae Karsten, Marshfield; and Mrs. Richard (Hazel) Nelson, Milwaukee.

She also is survived by 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, one brother, John Miller, Plummer, Idaho; and a sister, Mrs. Frieda Leitzow, Dorchester.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
