Wing, Frank B. (13 FEB 1877 - 25 JUN 1964)

Frank B. Wing, 87, died Thursday, June 25, 1964 at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, where he was a patient for two weeks. Prior to his final illness, he was a resident of the Memorial Nursing Home at Neillsville.

Mr. Wing operated Wing's Drug Store in Abbotsford for many years, and later served as president of the Wing Drug Company, with stores at Abbotsford and Marshfield, until his retirement a few years ago.

The body lay in state at the Polnaszek Funeral Home at Abbotsford where an Elk's Lodge Sorrow was held at 7 o'clock Sunday evening. Mrs. Wing held the longest membership record in the Marshfield Lodge, having been initiated in 1901.

At 8 o'clock Sunday evening, Masonic rites were held. Mr. Wing was the last of the charter members of the Abbotsford Lodge of Fred and Accepted Masons No. 298, and at various times served in each of the lodge's offices, except treasurer.

During the rites, Mrs. Myron Greaser and Mrs. George Edwards sang "Beyond the Sunset" and Miss Bonnie Melvin was organist and accompanist.

On Monday afternoon at 1:30 funeral services were held at the First Presbyterian Church at Abbotsford. The Rev. Charles E. Glidden, pastor, and the Rev. Douglas P. Oyan of Marshfield conducted the services during which Mrs. Cora Cole sang with Mrs. R.R. Williams as accompanist. Miss Bonnie Melvin was the organist.

The pallbearers for interment, which was made in the Neillsville Cemetery, were Kenneth Anderson, Lowell Dorn, Clarence Dolan, Maurice Hutt, Clarence Klieforth and Stanley Thomson.

Frank B. Wing was born Feb. 13, 1877 at Whitehall and received his early education there. He was graduated from the School of Pharmacy of Northwestern University in Chicago in 1896. He was a pharmacist at La Crosse for a time and then purchased a partnership in a drug store at Marshfield. In 1901 he became sole owner of the store and four years later he located at Abbotsford.

Mr. Wing and Catherine McMillan were united in marriage at Neillsville Oct. 21, 1903 and celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1953. Mrs. Wing preceded her husband in death on May 8, 1959.

Surviving him are two children, John Benjamin of Marshfield, and Mrs. A.A. (Mary) Young, Reno, Nevada; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. F.W. Hall of Minneapolis.
