Helwig, Sp. 5 Harry B. (Military Notes - 1969)
Sp. 5 Harry B. Helwig,
who has terminated his tour of active duty in the army, is spending several days
with his wife and baby daughter at the Leland Garbisch home near Granton.
Helwig is a 1963 graduate of Neillsville High School and received his
Bachelor of Science degree from Wisconsin State University-Stevens Point in
June, 1967. He entered the army in October, 1967, and received his basic
training at Ft. Campbell, Ky. He was then sent to Ft. Lee, Va., for on-the-job
training as a personnel specialist. He left in June, 1968, for Vietnam. He was
stationed at Camp Enari, Pleiku, in the central highlands.
Sp. 5 Helwig
plans to return to his work with the Social Security administration at Elgin,
Ill., later this month.
Besides visiting his wife’s parents in Granton,
he is also visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Helwig on Rt. 1 Neillsville.
On returning home Mr. Helwig made the acquaintance of his four-month-old
daughter, Terri, whom he had never seen.
