A Willard pioneer retired farmer passes away. Anton
Krainz, 90, a Willard pioneer, died last Thursday in Neillsville after being
there only one day.
A rosary service was held Sunday at 8 p.m. at the
Hill Funeral Home. The funeral was held from the funeral home on Monday at 9
a.m. and 10 a.m. from the Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard with the Rev.
Michael Mertens officiating. Burial was made in the Holy Family Cemetery at
Willard beside his wife.
Krainz was born in Yugoslavia June 16, 1879. He
grew to manhood there. In 1902, he left for the United States and settled at
Scamman, Kans. While there was married to Katherine Mazotti on December 26,
1907. She died on April 30, 1950. While in Scamman he worked in mines. In 1914
he and his wife came to Willard and settled on a farm south of Willard, where he
farmed until 1947, when he retired and moved to Greenwood. He made his home in
Greenwood, with the exception of a few years during which he lived with his son
at Willard.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. John (Antonia) Kaltinger, and
one son, Valentine, both of Willard; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were: Mr. Alvin Kaltinger, Frank Volovsek, Joseph Tolaney,
Sr., Alphonz Volovsek, John Perme and William Volovsek.
