Raymond Barth, 86, of Granton passed away April 23,
2013, at the Neillsville Care & Rehabilitation Center.
Raymond was born
June 19, 1926, to John and Hilda (Quicker) Barth. He helped on the farm and had
a can milk route for Neillsville Milk Products. He was united in marriage to
Shirley Nowack Aug. 28, 1948, at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in
Granton, at which time he began farming in the Town of Lynn. He was drafted into
service, serving in the navy on a destroyer. He was a 3rd class cook from
1952-1955. After the service, Raymond went back to farming in the Town of York
until 1963. He then bought a farm east of Lynn and farmed there until 1976. He
was struck by lightning in 1969. In 1977, he built a new home in Granton.
Raymond also worked for Rollohome Manufactured Homes. He was supervisor for the
Town of Lynn and village of Granton. Raymond was a member of the Neillsville
American Legion Post #73 and a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in
Granton. He enjoyed busing the Amish, fishing and hunting, family get-togethers
and his grandchildren.
Raymond is survived by his wife Shirley, of 64
years; two sons, Gary (friend Charlene) Barth of Long Beach, CA, and Tom (Anita)
Barth, Marshfield; four grandchildren, Amanda, Trevor, Alissa and Makayla Barth;
one sister, Norma Vandenbergen of Berlin; one brother, James Barth of Chili; one
sister-in-law, Laura Riedel of Granton; nieces, nephews, family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert; and two
brothers-in-law, Harold Vandenbergen and Ralph Riedel.
Funeral services
for Raymond will be held at 11 a.m. May 11, 2013 at the Zion Evangelical
Lutheran Church in Granton. Following the service, a celebration of his life
will be held at the American Legion Post #73 in Neillsville.
