Haines, Evelyn Rose (18 April 1918
- 27 April 2013)
Evelyn Rose Haines, 95, of Marshfield died Saturday,
April 27, 2013, at Golden Living Center - Three Oaks, where she has been a
resident since January of 2006.
Evelyn was born April 18, 1918, to Ben
and Martha (Meihack) Dux in the Town of Grant. She attended Kurth Grade School
and graduate in 1937 from Neillsville High School. Before her marriage, she
worked as a waitress in Wisconsin Rapids and later worked for the ASC office in
Madison. She married Francis Haines June 4, 1940. Together they owned and
operated a dairy, beef and poultry farm in the Town of Grant for 32 years.
Evelyn was responsible for caring for 2,000 laying hens and collecting and
processing eggs for their egg route in the Marshfield area.
They retired
to Marshfield in 1972. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. In retirement,
Evelyn and Francis were custodians for the First Presbyterian Church for 18
years. They were also actives members of the Senior Citizen’s Craft Shoppe,
making and selling many of their own handcrafted items. Evelyn was an excellent
cook. She especially enjoyed baking and trying new recipes. She enjoyed
babysitting and loved to sew and knit and made many items for her family and
friends.
She is survived by her sons, Kenneth (Carina) of Abbotsford,
Lloyd of Elk Mound, Byron (Linda) of Orangeville, IL, and daughter, Betty Ann
(Jim) Becker of Marshfield. She is further survived by brothers-in-law, Glenn
(Nita) Haines, Sparta, and Eugene Hines, Tomah; sister-in-law Anna Liebzeit,
Willard; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in
death by her parents; her husband Francis of 71 years (Oct. 19, 2011); four
sisters-in-law, Rebecca Goeser, Ella Gardner, Val Haines and Dora Haines; and
three brothers-in-law, Alex Goeser, Russell Gardner and Arvin Liebzeit.
A
private graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery in Marshfield. Rembs
Funeral Home, Marshfield, is assisting the family with arrangements.
The
family would like to thank the staff at Three Oaks Golden Living Center for
their kindness and wonderful care Evelyn received during her stay.
