Kostick, Helen Antoinette

Helen Antoinette Kostick passed away
peacefully at the age of 90 years on Saturday, April 27, 2013, at her home at
Oakbrook Health & Rehab in Thorp, WI. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m.
on Wednesday, May 21, 2013, at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp.
Rev. Don Meuret officiated and burial followed in New St. Hedwig’s Catholic
Cemetery. Visitation was held at Thorp Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 30, 2013,
from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a 7:30 p.m. rosary service. Visitation was also held
at the church, on Wednesday, from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
Helen,
the daughter of Ignace and Anna (Truhan) Skwierczynski, was born on January 16,
1923, in Thorp, WI. She married John H. Kostick on June 15, 1940, in Lublin, WI.
Together they raised two children, and operated an 80-acre dairy farm until they
retired in 1972. They then moved to the city of Thorp where Helen was a cook at
the Thorp Elementary School and later at the Thorp Senior Citizen Center. In her
spare time, she loved to cook, entertain and garden.
Helen is survived
by her son, Roger (Shirley) Kostick of Thorp, WI; son-in-law, Thomas Hempelman
of Thorp; nine grandchildren: Charlene Has, Judy Salzgeber, Michael Hempelman,
Billie Jo Hempelman, Jodie Kostick, Tara Kostick, Amy Ogle, Travis Kostick and
Alexis Kostick. She is further survived by 16 great-grandchildren; 12
great-grandchildren, and her special “little boy,” Cody.
She was preceded
in death by her parents, Ignace in 1962 and Anna in 1969; her loving husband,
John, in November 1988; her daughter, Alice Shirley Hempelman in April 1983; six
brothers: Walter in 2009, Stanley in 1967, Leon “Leo” in 1994, Frank in 1986,
Louis in 2006 and Ignace “Nick” in 1986; and one great-great-grandchild in 2009.
