Krak, Lawrence A. (7 December 1923 - 26 April 2013) With Flag

Lawrence A. Krak, 89, of Gilman, died Friday, April 26, 2013, at the Gilman Care Center. He was born on December 7, 1923 to the late Michael and Mary (Kotecki) Krakowiecki. Lawrence was born and raised in Gilman graduating from Gilman High. He went to study computer science at UW-EC and later Notre Dame. Lawrence served his country during WWII in the Army. After his time in the service he returned to work in the Minneapolis area until returning to Gilman in the late 70’s to aid his father.

Lawrence was an avid outdoorsman and in later years was instrumental in seeing the Timber Wolf removed from the endangered species list. He also enjoyed tennis (in his younger years), gardening and was a fan of all Wisconsin sports teams.

He is survived by many cousins and friends.

A funeral mass was held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Gilman with Father Madanu Sleeva Raju officiating. Burial followed in the parish cemetery with the Gilman VFW Post #359 and the Lublin, Bellinger, Gilman VFW Post 6186 conducting military graveside rites. Visitation was one hour prior to services at the church. The Gilman Funeral home assisted the family with arrangements.
