Nelson, Martha (27Feb 1880-12 Mar
1964)
Mrs. Martha Nelson, 84, Loyal, died Thursday, March 12, at the
Memorial Hospital, Neillsville, at 6:30 p.m. from old age complications. She had
been a patient there since December 23.
Services were held at 2 p.m.,
Monday from the Myre Funeral Home. The Rev. Paul Doering, pastor of the Loyal
Methodist Church officiated and burial was made in the Loyal Lutheran Cemetery.
Mrs. Nelson, the former Martha Gretzner, was born February 27, 1880 I
Germany. At the age of 6 she came to the United States with her parents and
settled in West Bloomfield. As a young girl they moved to a farm in the town of
Loyal. She was united in marriage to John Nelson in 1898 and the couple moved to
a farm in the town of Beaver. Upon retirement they moved to the city of Loyal.
Her husband preceded her in death in November, 1954.
Survivors are a
daughter, Mrs. J. A. (Geraldyne) Rosar, Wauwautosa; a twin brother, Adolph
Grentzner, Loyal; two sisters, Mrs. Millie Hayes, Owen, and Mrs. Thomas Kelly,
Milwaukee; a granddaughter and three great-grandchildren.
Active
pallbearers were Albert Haslow. Arthur Wolfe, Chester Hebert, Ulysses Cain,
Robert Marvin and Dale Wolfe.
The hymns, “The Lord is My Shepherd” and
“Oh Love that Will Not Let Me Go, were sung by Mrs. Paul Doering, accompanied on
the organ by Mrs. Byron Zepplin.
Attending the services from out of town
were Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Rosar, Wauwautosa; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Marvin, Van Dyne;
Mr. and Mrs. Art Wolfe, Spencer; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Skorstadt, and Mr. and Mrs.
Alfred Skorstadt, Blair.
