Zupanc, Mary (21 Jan 1879- 16 Mar. 1964)

Mrs. Mary Zupanc, 85, Loyal, died of old age complications at Memorial Hospital, Neillsville at 2 a.m. Monday morning, where she had been a patient, and at the Memorial Nursing Home since January.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, 10 a.m., at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Norbert E, King officiating.

Mary Zupanc, the former Mary Horvat was born January 21, 1879 in Yugoslavia. She came to the United States at the age of 19 and settled in Chicago. She was married to Frank Zupanc in Chicago in 1901. In 1909 the couple moved to a farm in the Willard area where they farmed until 1959, when they moved to the city of Loyal. Her husband preceded her in death on April 30, 1960. She then sold her home in the city in October, 1963 and went to Preston, Iowa to make her home with her daughter. Mrs. George Gregorich. Last January she returned to the Nursing Home in Neillsville.

She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and a member of St. Mary’s Altar Society.

Mrs. Zupanc is survived by four sons, Joseph and Tony, Loyal; Victor, Tomah; and Frank of Wisconsin Rapids; three daughters, Mrs. Philip (Ann) Dub, Berwyn, Illinois; Mrs. Casper (Caroline) Shober, Loyal; Mrs. George (Mary) Gregorich, Preston, Iowa. Nineteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Two infant children and one sister preceded her in death.

Burial was made in Holy Family Cemetery in Willard.
