Funeral services
for George Cendt, 98, who died Monday, July 20, 1964, at his home in Wausau,
were held Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 at the Polnaszek Funeral Home at
Abbotsford. The Rev. Charles E. Glidden of the First Presbyterian Church of
Abbotsford officiated. Interment was made in the Colby Memorial Cemetery.
Geroge Cendt was born Nov. 1, 1865, in Kent County, Mich., and received his
eduation there. After his marriage to Nellie Mantor sept. 14, 1898, at
Winneconne, the couple made their home at Park Falls. Four sons and two
daughters were born to them.
While in Park Falls Mr. Cendt served on the
school board.
In 1908 they moved to a farm east of Abbotsford and lived
there until 1938, when they moved to Wausau.
Mr. Cendt was a member of
the First Presbyterian Church at Wausau.
He is survived by his wife at
Wausau, and their six children: Mrs. Howard (Grace) Merwin of Abbotsford; Mrs.
Emil (Mabel) Butzlaff, Fred Cendt and Howard Cendt of Wausau; Lester Cendt of
Evansville, Wyo., and Raymond Cendt of Bayfield, Wis.
Five grandchildren
and 11 great-grandchildren also survive.
Mr. Cendt was the last of his
family, having been preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.
