Neillsville Area Locals (7 August 1969)

Mrs. Irene Vetrone and children, and Mrs. Sue Vetrone and children of Wisconsin Rapids, visited Wednesday with Mrs. William Vetrone and children.

George Turner is at his home with a cast on his foot and leg after a fall while working on the construction of a new home on Center Street last week. He suffered a fractured bone in his foot.

Mr. and Mrs. Ardell Runge and son of Chicago, Ill., spent last week visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Runge, at Christie and hers, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Weast of Neillsville.

Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Lavene and sons, Gary and Rickey and Hattie Forman, spent last Thursdays evening at the Otto Runge home in Christie.

Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Lavene and sons, Hattie Forman and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Bender and family enjoyed a picnic Sunday at Mead Lake and Rock Dam.

Miss Bernadine Peterson of Madison spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Peterson, and her sister, Carol, of Eau Claire. Saturday the three ladies drove to Withee to visit Miss Johanna Blum, and Mrs. Alma Christophersen. Miss Blum, who is known here, is 91 years young and feeling well and happy.

Mr. and Mrs. Otto Dux visited Sunday evening with Mrs. Leonard Wachholz.

Mr. and Mrs. Russel VandeBerg and four of their children have returned after spending six days on a cabin cruiser on Lake Nipigon at Mac Diarmid, Ont., Canada. The lake is 90 miles long. During the day they would take to the fishing boats and return at night to the cruiser. They caught a lot of fish and enjoyed the location. It doesn’t get dark there until 10 or 10:30 p.m., and Mrs. VandeBerg thought the moon over the lake appeared much larger than it does here. Mr. VandeBerg’s brother, Lloyd, and daughter, Janis, of Cheney, Wash., accompanied them, while his wife visited her sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bender, in the Town of York.

Mrs. Alfred Franz and daughter, Kathy of Marshfield, spent Thursday with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Werner Jenni.

Mr. and Mrs. Myron Payne and daughter, Marsha, of Milwaukee, were weekend guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Werner Jenni. Marsha will spend several weeks with her grandparents and other relatives.

Linda Grayson and Henry Boyte and Gary Miles of Evansville, Ind., were guests for supper Saturdays night at the home of Rev. and Mrs. Jack Grether.

Mr. and Mrs. Tim Grether and daughters, Gina, Kim and Wendi of Eau Claire, visited their parents, Rev. and Mrs. Jack Grether and Mr. and Mrs. Tony Svetlik and other relatives and friends over the weekend.

Mrs. Ernest Sontag returned home Monday afternoon from Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for about four weeks.
