Springstead, Harold Eugene (21 November 1934 - 5 May 2013)
Harold
Springstead, 78, of Neillsville died Sunday, May 5, at the Memorial Medical
Center in Neillsville.
Harold Eugene Springstead was born Nov. 21, 1934,
in Elmwood, the son of Ralph and Edith (Shelto) Springstead. Harold worked for
many years at the Neillsville Foundry as a handyman in the area, helping people
with everything from lawn care to repair projects. His hobbies included
gardening, carpentry and crafts.
He is survived by five children, Linda
Shilt of Stevens Point, Carol Springstead of Buffalo, WY, Michelle Calkins of
Hatfield, Jeannette (David) Ellithorpe of Chippewa Falls and Eugene (Nicole)
Springstead of Marshall, MN; seven grandchildren, Heather, Patrick and Randy
Calkins, Christian Anderson, Christopher Sanders, Cary Kanton and Brady
Springstead; and six great-grandchildren: Allissa, Austin, Weston, Daryll “LA,”
Damien and Wyatt.
A graveside service for Harold was held at 11 a.m.
Tuesday, May 7, at the Dells Dam Cemetery in Levis Township. Pastor Douglas
Bjerke officiated. Visitation was held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the
Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville.
Casketbearers were: David Ellithorpe,
Eugene Springstead, Patrick “Bud” Calkins, Randy Calkins and Christopher
Sanders.
