Humbird (14 August 1969)

Fred Rupnow is in the Neillsville Hospital due to a fall from a scaffold which collapsed. He has a badly broken foot, but says he will be up and around in no time.

A number of people drove to strum Sunday to take in the “Steam Engine Day” celebration. Among them were John Greub, Ted Polege, William Theiler and Fred Theiler.

Last weekend Mr. and Mrs. Walter Rink of Watertown and Mr. and Mrs. Willis Johnson and family of Appleton visited at the Polege home.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Noyes and two grandchildren of Eau Claire were overnight guests Saturday at the Chet Bailey home.

Mrs. Kenny Enerson and two children of Beloit and Mrs. Claire Enerson and Mary Jo of North Branch visited at the Arnold Matti home Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Pierce of Neillsville called at the Matti home Wednesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Horn and Jodi of Pittsville, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Payne and three children and Mrs. Marion Alburs of Wisconsin Rapids, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Phillips of Port Edwards were dinner and supper guests Sunday at the Art Allen home.

Mrs. Elgie Hardwick went to Neillsville Thursday to spend a few days with her daughter, Mrs. Winnifred Tesmer.

Visitors one day last week at the Herb Adler home were their nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Schmulz and family of Menasha.

Mrs. Donald Zerbel, Mrs. Lottie Flynn and Mrs. Freida Zerbel were business callers in Neillsville Thursday.

Walter Burkhalter and Ronnie of Rockford spent the weekend at the Albert Olson home.

Mr. and Mrs. Ben Clouse came Saturday to stay until Sunday at the Henry Laffe home. Sunday they took a long drive and called at the Gordon Haag home in La Crosse.

Mrs. Ida Holman of Osseo is visiting at the home of her daughter for an indefinite time.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Barnowski and family of Wausau were weekend guests at the Polege home.

Allen Olson of Augusta is spending a few weeks with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fees.

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Zimmerman and Mrs. Hulda Winscher visited her sister, Mrs. Alex Lubinski, and Mr. and Mrs. Zimmerman attended a gathering in honor of her sister, Inga Rose, who was recently married to Rudy South. Mrs. Lubinski accompanied them home Sunday evening.

Mrs. Nick Petroff and Brian of New London, O., Mrs. Homer Sherk and Renee of Ashland, O., and Miss Charlene Dignin of Nova, O., expected to leave for home Tuesday after spending a week visiting their grandmother, Mrs. Laura Dignin, who will accompany them to Nova to visit her son, William. On their way home they will stop in Beloit and be overnight guests at the Dale Austin home.
