Zugich, Matthew J. (24 February 1888 - 3 September 1969)
Matthew J. Zugich, 81, a resident of Memorial Home, died here Wednesday.
Funeral services will be held from St. Mary’s Catholic Church Friday at 10 a.m.,
with the Rev. George Nelson officiating.
The body will lie in state from
Thursday at 10 a.m. until time of the services. A rosary service will be held at
8:30 p.m. tonight (Thursday at the Georgas Funeral Home. Burial will be made in
the parish cemetery.
Mr. Zugich was born February 24, 1888, in Austria.
He came to the United States in 1912 and settled in Depue, Ill. He was married
to Mary Jordan, January 1, 1918, in Greenwood. She died in 1966. After their
marriage they lived in Depue, Indianapolis, Ind., and Chicago, Ill., before
moving to Neillsville in 1947. They farmed in this area until his retirement in
1966. Due to failing health, he had lived at Memorial Home for the last two
years.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Norman (Mary) Paquette of
Neillsville; two sons, John of Seattle, Wash., and Henry of Sturtevant; a
sister, Rose, of Yugoslavia; a brother, John of Depue, Ill.; 13 grandchildren
and three great-grandchildren.
