Sauer, Walter M. (26 JUL 1946 - 7 AUG 1964)
Funeral services were
held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Colby for
Walter M. Sauer, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Sauer, route 1, Unity, who was
fatally injured in an automobile accident Friday night, aug. 7, 1964.
The
Rev. John Pinion officiated and burial was made in the Colby Cemetery. The
school choir sang and Sister Louise Ann accompanied them at the organ.
Pallbearers were Dennis Schraufnagel, Glenn Weiler, Gary Palmerton, Dean Loos,
Darrell Loos, Colby, and Joseph Werner, Dorchester.
Attending the
services were many relatives and friends from Colby, Unity, Dorchester, Spencer,
Abbotsford, Marshfield, Stratford, Wausau, Milwaukee, Wauwatosa, Woodstock and
Elmwood, Ill., Fond du lac and Hartford.
Walter Michael Sauer was born
July 26, 1946, at Marshfield. The family lived at Medford until 1953, when they
moved to Woodstock, Ill. Since December 1958, the family has lived in the Colby
area. Walter graduated May 1964, as an honor student, from Colby High School,
and was to enter the University of Wisconsin, river Falls, this fall. Following
graduation he was employed at Zuther's DeLaval in Colby.
He was a member
of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Colby, and an active member of the Cherokee
Chums 4-H Club and the Colby Chapter of the Future Farmers of America.
Survivors include his parents; a sister, Eunice; two brothers, Clifford and
Roger, all at home; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Loos, Colby, and Mrs.
Catherine Sauer, Medford, and his maternal great-grandmother, Mrs. Fannie
Riemer, Colby.
