Madison - Six Wisconsin National guardsmen will be chosen to start training at West Point when the course opens July 31, according to Lieut. Col. Byron Beveridge of the Adjutant General’s office.

Six applications for appointment had been receive by the adjutant general when the date for filing expired Friday.

While under the law these six men are required to take a competitive examination before being assigned to the school, there is but small opportunity of completion inasmuch as there will be no one to compete with, it was announced.

The following men will take the civil service examination, and then in all probability will be assigned to West Point, Mr. Beveridge said.

Sergeant Donald E. Carlton, Troop A, First Cavalry, Milwaukee; Sergeant Clarence E. Sheasby, Troop L. First Cavalry, Eau Claire; Private First Class George J. Conklin, Battery B, Second Field Artillery, La Crosse; Private First Class Stanley J. Horn, Co. B, First Supply Train, Abbotsford; Waggoner Everett Hanson, First Separate Supply Company, Oshkosh; Private Melvin Tufts, 27th Separate Company, Sheboygan.
