Miss Jean Davis is home from Eau Claire since Friday.
A.C. Anderson and
son Lester of the town of Rock were here visiting Ross Paulson's Wednesday.
Miss Edith Kempine of Chili was a guest of the Frank Davis family several
days this week.
Miss Mary Hefty went to Chili Wednesday on a couple days
visit to relatives.
Aug. Schlinsog Jr. visited friends at Marshfield on
Saturday.
Mrs. A.J. Knorr entertained the Circle and a few friends on
Wednesday.
Mrs. James King is visiting relatives at Crandon since Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Marg were county seat visitors on Friday.
Mrs. F.J.
Baer spent Friday at Neillsville, engaged with abstract work.
Roland
Washburn of east Lynn is home from Waterloo, Ia., since Friday.

Devos of Neillsville spent Friday here with her sister Mrs. Ernest Dixon.
Miss Anita Schoengarth is home from her school work at Eau Claire since
Saturday.
Mrs. L.N. Anthony of Weyauwega is here since Monday visiting
her daughter, Mrs. E.A. Schroeder.
Mrs. Lib Fuller, with Mrs. Mot Osgood
and Gertrude spent Monday with old friends at Neillsville.

Sweeting of Waldo, after a visit with the H.F. lawson family, went home to Waldo
on Friday.
Mrs. R.R. Rath arrived home from a week's visit with friends
in Chicago on Monday.
Elmer and Alton Bender, Ray Chapman and Kurt Lamps,
all of R. 4, went to Park Falls on Monday.
Holly Smith of Reedstown is
visiting at H.L. Bender's on R. 4 since Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl
Lange of York came home Tuesday from a week's visit at Merrill.

Ure of Neillsville spent Tuesday afternoon here with her old friend, Mrs. W.S.
Davis.
Mrs. Peter Paulson and daughter Agnes of Neillsville spent Tuesday
afternoon here with Mrs. Dan Rausch.
Mrs. Ed Doiassie, with her sister
Miss Sadie Garbisch of York, visited Neillsville friends on Tuesday.
Mrs.
Lee Sires, with Dale and Ida Belle, after a several weeks visit at Theodore
Breseman's, went home to Altoona on Thursday.
Miss Celia Holbert of
Beloit, after a several months stay at Clifford Winn's, went home on Thursday.
Scott Smith and Phelps Spry went to Richland Center Thursday on a several
weeks holiday visit among relatives .
Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Reindel arrived
home from a 3 week visit between Chicago, Jefferson, Johnson Creek and other
places, Thursday.
Wm. Storm spent Thursday with his son Frank at the
Marshfield Hospital.
Herman Gluch and little daughter Irene spent
Thursday with old friends at Marshfield.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Erwin and
baby Beulah are home from Milwaukee since Thursday.
Reuben Poutz of
Ixonia is here since late last week and assisting with the work incident to the
holiday rush at his uncle H.C. Witte's store.
Little Vivian Peterson of
Nasonville is the guest of her aunt Miss Bertha Barth at the Albion Downer home
this week.
Mrs. D.S. Rausch is home from St. Joseph's Hospital at
Marshfield since Saturday and is, although as yet very weak, convalescing
nicely.
Mrs. Perry Thayer went to Neillsville Saturday on a couple days
visit to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Cole.
Mrs. Sam Arthur and daughter
Evelyn of Sheboygan Co., who were visiting at W.J. Davis', left for Waupaca on a
further visiting trip on Saturday.
Mrs. Jos. Mantey of Stevens Point came
last week Thursday and was a guest of the Albert Mantey family, over Sunday.
Mrs. Geo. Rose and daughters Elva and Pearl spent Saturday with Mr. and Mrs.
Geo. Campbell at Marsfhield.
Miss Lydia Neinas went to Marshfield Friday
afternoon and remained until Saturday evening, the guests of relatives.
Herman Bower and another gentleman from Marshfield were guests in the Elmer
Hitzke home on Saturday.
The Baers autoed to Neillsville Sunday and with
Mrs. L.M. Stockwell of Bolga, S.D., visited the A.E. Stockwell family in the
town of Pine valley.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Dixon and baby Donald were
Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Devos at Neillsville.
Mrs.
Peter Faber of Granton, R. 2, came home from the State Hospital at Mendota late
last week and in company with an attendant from there, made the return trip
again on Monday.
Mrs. W.J. Thayer has been made chairman of the Granton
Red Cross branch to succeed Mrs. W.S. Davis, who on account of illness, is
unable to attend the work incident to the chairmanship.
Mrs. Howard Beaty
and son Eber came home from Richland Center Tuesday, accompanied by her brother
Geo. Norris of that place, who is since visiting here.
Otto Yordi visited
his wife at the Marshfield hospital Saturday and went over again on Monday and
brought her home, and she is now well on the road to ultimate recovery.
Oscar Eberhardt visited friends at Marshfield on Saturday.
John Malamphy
of Chili was here on business Tuesday.
Ernest Crevecour went to
Marshfield Tuesday.
Mrs. Albert Davis entertained the R.N.A. Wednesday
evening.
Mrs. Hans Paulson Sr. is here with her daughter Mrs. D.S. Rausch
since Tuesday.
Rush Wentworth is visiting his father at Edgerton since
Tuesday.
Miss Elda Petznick came up from Cascade where she has employment
in a back, Wednesday, to spend the holiday vacation with her uncle Robert
Petnick and his family.
Arnold Garbush went home to Random Lake Thursday.
His uncle John Garbush, who accompanied him here two weeks since, remained for a
more extended visit.
Helen Downer and Dorothea Mantey spent Saturday with
the fomrer's sister Leona, at the Marshfield Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. John
Kissinger of Fox Lake are here since last week Monday on a Christmas visit to
the Albert Mantey family.
Jake and Sherman Lowery of La Farge came up
last week Wednesday for a visit with his brother Will, their parents Mr. and
Mrs. Chas. Lowery, and ohter relatives in this vicinity.
Mrs. W.S. Davis,
slightly improved in health, is home from Milwaukee since Saturday. Her son
Lawrence went down on Friday and accompanied her home that night.
Fred
and Clara Drescher, brother and sister of Ordway, Colo., came over from
Neillsville late last week and made a several days visit to their aunt Mrs.
Augusta Jahr and other relatives here.
Rex Beeckler and Ethan Peterson,
students of the Stevens Point Normal School, are home since Saturday when that
school closed, not to reopen until after New Year's.
Mrs. Gerzemehle and
daughter Amanda, Mrs. Wm. Marg, Mrs. Fred Dopp, Miss Gretchen Palmatier and Miss
Edna Bashford were guests of Neillsville friends on Saturday.
Jewel
McHone, Clarence Downer, August Teatz, Mr. and Mrs. Webb Winn, Mrs. Orren Hickox
and Mrs. Chas. Wilke visited friends at Neillsville on Friday.
Adolph
Nitzke and Mrs. Theodore Greunwald of Random Lake, after a 2 week visit between
the Gustave Beilke and Wm. Wischuelke families, went home Tuesday. Mr.
Wischuelke accompanied them as far as Marshfield.
Lynn Knorr on an
auditing commission for Marwick, Mitchell, Peat & Co. of Milwaukee, is at Wausau
the past two weeks and came home from there last Saturday evening and made an
over Sunday visit. He is expected home again this Saturday to remain over the
holidays.
Carl Krause, although as yet in a serious condition, promises
to yield to treatment and eventually recover. The professional nurse is as yet
assisting the Dr. and Mrs. Krause in his care.
Mr. and Mrs. F.D. Vincent
of Carthage, S.D., arrived here Monday evening on a visit to relatives in the
J.F. Vincent home on Neillsville, Route 4.
Mrs. Gus Hagen went to
Marshfield Saturday and spent the day with her uncle Herschel Rodman of
Neillsville, who is a patient in the hospital there through the effects of a
wood chopping accident, when he suffered the loss of one of his eyes two weeks
since.
Vernie Wright returned from Chicago early this week after passing
a satisfactory examination for Uncle Sam's Aviation Corps. He expects to be
called to Chicago again sometime in January to report for duty.
Neil
Downer, who for the past year had rented the eagle Hotel of Gust Bergeman, with
his family moved onto his farm in the town of York early this week. Mr. and Mrs.
Harry Burch ahve rented the hotel and are in charge of it since Monday.
R.T. Washburn, station agent at Lynn, a sufferer from kidney trouble, is a
patient at Mayo Bros. Hospital at Rochester, Minn., whither he went Sunday. His
many friends are hopeful that his visit and stay there may prove very
beneficial.
Dr. and Mrs. H.L. Rose and daughter Dorothea will leave for
Wauwatosa Saturday to visit his parents and other relatives, and will be absent
until January 5th. The dental parlor will in consequence be close during this
period.
Dr. Rath has on display at the G.E. Amidon Drug Store a fine
specimen of stuffed or mounted Armadillo, the gift of his brother Floyd, who is
with Uncle Sam's forces at Waco, Texas. Dr. proposes to present this specimen to
the Granton High School after the holidays.
The Circle at Mrs. Knorr's
Wednesday enjoyed a Christmas tree and each member a unique gift, therefrom. The
reverse side of the name car with each gift had a stanza of poetry or a
witticism, the reading of which was most mirth provoking. A goodly number were
in attendance and all enjoyed the treat. Each went home happier for having been
there.
W.J. Thayer's new hardware store is almost ready to be moved into
now. The new shelving and show cases are in and being given the finishing
touches at the hands of painters and varnishers this week. Some fixtures from
his present quarters are being moved over and all will soon be ready for
occupancy and business in the near future. It is a mighty fine new store
building and we Grantonites are sure proud of it.
L. Stevens of this
village and his twin sister Mrs. Lena Eldridge were given a delightful surprise
birthday party by Mrs. Emma Stevens at Spokeville, when she entertained a large
company of relatives Wednesday in celebration of their 68th birthday
anniversary. Mrs. Stevens and Mrs. Welsh were sent for, Ruel Stevens coming by
auto for them, and Elmer Knickle saw them safely home on the return trip.
