Granton News (Granton, Clark County, Wis.) 21 Dec 1917
John Ziglinski is
alarmingly ill since he suffered the 3rd stroke of paralysis on Sunday.
Elgie Slocomb is here from Beach, N.D., since Monday and will spend the winter
with his sister, Mrs. Geo. West.
Mr. and Mrs. Will Kurth and Mrs. Arthur
Grassman, autoing to Marshfield Tuesday, had a narrow escape from death when
just a mile this side of Marshfield their car skidded and overturned, breaking a
wheel, the windshield and otherwise injuring the car, while the occupants
escaped with but slight bruises. They telephoned into the city for help and had
their car towed into a garage where it was soon repaired and made safe for their
return trip, which they made without further mis-adventure that evening.
Our school will give their Christmas program tonight, Friday.
Mr. and
Mrs. Otis Slocomb, Mrs. Will Kurth and Miss Weingarten autoed down to Shortville
and heard Forest Calway give a good patriotic address for the Red Cross benefit
Wednesday evening. A basket social followed the speech and netted a good sum for
the cause.
Mrs. Clemens Kuechenmeister who has been quite indisposed the
past two weeks is now somewhat improved and up and about the house again.
