Myron "Mike" R. Brecke, age 82, of Curtiss passed away on
Friday, May 17, 2013 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at St.
Paul's Lutheran Church in Curtiss. The Rev. Kris Bjerke-Ulliman will officiate.
Interment will be in the Pine Hill Cemetery in Curtiss. A time of Visitation
will be held from 4:00 until 8:00 PM Monday, May 20 at Maurina-Schilling Funeral
Home in Abbotsford and one hour prior to service time at the church on Tuesday.
His grandsons will serve as pallbearers: DJ and Myron Patterson, Patrick and
Phillip Gumz, Chris Brecke and Shayne Hanson.
Mike was born on March 19,
1931 in Stetsonville, the son of William and Bertha (Richwalski) Brecke. He
attended Pleasant Valley School. On March 2, 1957, Mike was united in marriage
to Sharon Johnson in Stetsonville. Together they farmed in the Town of Deer
Creek for 31 years. He also worked for the Medford Co-op, Abbyland Pork Plant
and the Clark County Commission on Aging delivering "Meals on Wheels", retiring
in 2011.
Mike enjoyed spending time outdoors, building things, talking
and getting to know other people, bowling in leagues and spending time with his
family. He also served on numerous boards, including Taylor County Electric and
the Farmers Union Milk Marketing Board. Mike also was a member of St. Paul's
Lutheran Church, serving as its president and was a member of the Curtiss Lions
Club.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sharon; his
children: Mark (Peggy), Denise and Karen all of Stetsonville, Juleen (Greg) of
Abbotsford and Melissa (Chad) of Withee. He is further survived by 14
grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, twin-sister, Myrtle (Howard) Bedroske,
sisters, Audrey Vircks, Annabelle Holme, Gladys (Emil) Paur and Elva (Norman)
Larson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Vernon (Betty);
sister, Stella; two brothers-in-law, Hal Holmes and Willard Vircks and a
step-grandson, Louis Voigt.
