Marlene was born September 18, 1945 to Mattie Karlotta Minsaas-Hansen and William Gustaf Hansen in Neillsville, Wisconsin. She received her education in Neillsville. In 1960, at the age of 15, Marlene moved to Marshfield to work as an au pair for the Tremmel family. She met and fell in love with the neighbor boy George Heinzen. After dating for several years, the pair married on August 13, 1966 and remained together until his death in June of 2004.

Marlene and George are survived by their three children: Michelle Heinzen of Wauwatosa, WI, Thomas Heinzen of Chili, and George Heinzen of Greenwood; and their grandchildren: Alexa Fritsch, Olivia Heinzen, Montanah Heinzen, and Gage Heinzen. She is further survived by her siblings: Virginia Kuehn of Neillsville, Richard Hansen of Warrens, Carroll Hansen of California, Harold Hansen of Spencer, Arlene Kopinski of Mondovi, Mickey Oestreich of Marshfield, Mavis Sage of Neillsville, Denny Hansen of Withee, and Jimmy Hansen of Athens, TN.

Marlene retired from Land O'Lakes in Spencer after 30 years of service and making many wonderful life-long friendships. She enjoyed gardening and maintaining a large floral landscape at her home of almost 50 years. Marlene was an avid bird watcher and loved to provide food and shelter for several varieties of birds on her property. She will be remembered for her kindness and generosity.
