Mr. and Mrs. Edward Ertl, route 1,
Unity, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at the Spencer Municipal Hall.
The couple was married in 1914 in St. Michael's Catholic Church in Hewitt.
A buffet supper was served for 100 guests, and an open house was held from 2
to 7 p.m.
The Ertls spent the first 23 years of their married life on a
farm near Spencer, then moved into Spencer for another four years. The next five
years were spent on a farm near Colby, after which they moved to Abbotsford for
two years. They then moved to their present home near Unity. They retired last
June.
Children of the couple are Henry Ertl, Unity; Mrs. Albert (Theresa)
Singstock, Marshfield; Edwin, Spencer; Arnold, Racine; Raymond, Loyal; Mrs. Glen
(Esther) Clouse, Loyal; Mrs. James (Irene) Morrison, Marshfield; Willie,
Marshfield; Mrs. Harlynn (Lenora) Kloke, Grafton; Mrs. Elmer (Rose) Jewett,
Santa Paula, Calif.; Mrs. Frank (Delores) Hebert, Gurnee, Ill.; Mrs. Bernard
(Anita) Pernsteiner, Dorchester, and Walter, Hazlet, N.J.
Another son,
Pvt. Frank W. Ertl, was killed in action while serving in Italy during World War
II.
The couple has 46 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
