Schumann, Friedrich A. (25 MAY 1887 - 9 NOV
1964)
Friedrich (Fred) A. Schumann of Waubun, Minn., a former Colby area
resident, died Monday evening at the M.C.V. Hospital in Mahnomen, Minn., at the
age of 77.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Nov. 5, at the Lake Grove
Lutheran Church, and burial was made in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were
Donald Schumann, Gary Schumann, Dale DuVall, Ray Marchel, Danny Bacon and Dale
Mellenthin. Funeral arrangements were attended to by the Mattson Funeral Home in
Mahnomen.
Mr. Schumann was born May 25, 1887 near Colby, where he
received his education. A farmer and woodsman by occupation, he married the
former Anna Lindner in 1912 at Colby. The Schumanns lived in rural Colby until
1956 when they moved to Minnesota.
Survivors include his wife, Anna; five
sons, Alvin of Waubun, Minn.; Fred Jr. of Klamath Falls, Ore., Arnold of
Ritzville, Wash., Marvin of Granville, N.D., and Merlin of Minot, N.D.; three
daughters, Mrs. Alvin (Bernita) DuVall of Langdon, N.D., Mrs. Glenn (Elsie)
Bacon of Lannon, Wis., and Mrs. Richard (Dorothy) Young of Milwaukee; one
sister, Mrs. Edwin (Lydia) Frome of Colby; 23 grandchildren and 10
great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one infant daughter and one
sister.
