Word has been received here
of the death of Wallace Henkel, 70, at Cartwright, Okla., a former Colby
resident, on Oct. 25, 1964.
Mr. Henkel was born Dec. 15, 1893 in the town
of Hull (Marathon Co., Wis.). His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gust Henkel, lived in
this area until 1944.
Mr. Henkel worked at New York City for Socony Vac.
Oil Co., except for two terms in the armed forces. During world War II he served
with the Merchant Marines.
He is survived by his wife, who lives at New
York, two daughters, both living in the east, five grandchildren, three brothers
and five sisters.
Interment was made in the Colby Memorial Cemetery,
Saturday, Oct. 31, with Rev. James Hagen officiating. Military honors were
performed by the Colby VFW.
