Willard J. (25 SEP 1925 - 28 APR 2013)
Willard J. Bahr, 87, of Fargo,
N.D., passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013, at the Sanford Palliative Care Unit in
Fargo.
Willard was born Sept. 25, 1925, in Edgar, to Albert and Margaret
(Kaser) Bahr. He graduated from Stratford High School. He served in the US Army
in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953, based in Sokchori, Korea.
On April
21, 1951, he married Mary Margaret (Peggy) Walsh in Enderlin, N.D.
He
worked for Allis Chalmers, the Railway Mail Service, and the Fargo Post Office,
retiring in 1985.
Willard enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapshooting,
gardening, summers at the family cottage, and the Green Bay Packers. He was also
a member of the Stratford VFW Post #6352.
Williard is survived by his
wife, Peggy; three children, Patty (Brian) Scrip of Concord, Calif., Jeff
(Kenna) of Aberdeen, S.D., and Denise (Tom) Kern of Bemidji, Minn.; two sisters,
Mary Ann (Charles) Wallace of Minneapolis and JoAnne Weber of Marshfield; and
one brother, William, of Stratford; nine grandchildren, Matthew and Lily Scrip,
Benjamin (Anne), Bryan and Brenna Bahr, and Kadie (Mark) Christiansen, Jessica,
Jaclyn and Joshua Kern, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in
death by his parents; three brothers, Kenneth, Wallace and Jimmy; and a
sister-in-law, Betty Bahr.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 3,
2013, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Fargo, N.D., with Msgr. Jeffrey Wald
presiding. Burial took place at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Enderlin, N.D.
Pallbearers were his grandchildren.
Boulger Funeral Home assisted the
family with arrangements.
